Alan Gelder - Head of Oils Research, Wood Mackenzie

Alan is now Head of Oils research team and so responsible for formulating Wood Mackenzie’s research outlook and perspectives on the global Downstream oils sector.

Alan Gelder joined Wood Mackenzie’s Downstream Consulting team in 2005 and became global head in 2009. Alan has led consulting assignments all over the world, focusing on major transactions (projects and M&A) and their alignment with key success factors for industry players and third parties. Alan is currently based in Wood Mackenzie’s London office.

Alan also has extensive experience of supporting the financial community’s involvement in major projects, such as Saudi Aramco’s recent export-oriented mega-Projects Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Alan had 10 years of industry consulting after working for ExxonMobil in a variety of project planning and technical process design roles. Alan has a first class Master Degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London, which has been supplemented by an MBA from Henley Management College.

 

Amran al Marhubi, Technical Director, Petroleum Development Oman, LLC

Amran Marhubi is Technical Director for Petroleum Development Oman and has held this post since 2011. He is responsible for both development and operations activities for the company. He joined Petroleum Development Oman in 1980 and has held a variety of posts in career in well Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Production Operations and Corporate Planning. He is a graduate of the University of York.

 

 

 

Ali Aissaoui, Senior Consultant, Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation
Mr. Ali Aissaoui is a senior policy consultant at the Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APICORP) where he previously held the position of Head of Economics and Research. He is also a Research Advisor to the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies where he worked as a senior research fellow. Prior to that, he served as energy policy advisor to the Algerian government and acted as the country’s representative in the OPEC Board of Governors. At APICORP his main focus has been the scanning of the corporation’s highly complex and volatile business environment and the framing of its growth and diversification strategy.

Mr Aissaoui has mainly devoted himself to research on topics related to energy markets and prices, energy investment and financing, and the political economy of the major petroleum-producing countries. In addition to informing high-level policy-making, his research activity often leads to conference presentations, participation in peer reviews (OIES and Chatham House’s Report and Papers, IEA’s World Energy Outlook, etc.), external advisory (Polinares Project) and extensive publication. Mr Aissaoui is an active member in several professional associations, including the Oxford Energy Policy Club, the Paris Energy Club and the Arab Energy Club. He is also a member of the International Association for Energy Economics.

 
Tom Mc Hale, Chief Financial Officer, RasGas
Mr Tom Mc Hale was appointed Chief Financial Officer for RasGas Company Limited in March 2003. With over 25 years’ experience as a senior executive in the energy industry, he brings to RasGas excellent technical, change management and interpersonal skills developed in a varied and diverse international career.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Mc Hale was Finance Director of the Statoil oil and gas exploration operations in Ireland with a focus on exploration and production joint venture activities on the technically challenging Atlantic margin. He has extensive management experience in upstream oil and gas operations with Chevron Texaco in their UK and Angola operations.

Mr Mc Hale holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and as a qualified accountant is a long standing member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He serves as a board member of the American School of Doha, Qatar.
